The Kensington Prairie Community Centre opened its doors in 2011. The centre was developed through a unique, collaborative community process facilitated by The Children’s Partnership. Community members, city personnel, and community
agencies worked together to create a vision for a space where families with young children could come to access a variety of support services focused on early learning and healthy child development. In the rapidly growing community of South Surrey, families now have access to many services in one location: quality childcare through Alexandra Neighbourhood House, a family drop-in centre at Semiahmoo Family Place, recreation facilities, and a preschool program run by the City of Surrey.
